Been a Long Time!

Sorry for the delay!

I'm going to abridge what has happened in the past couple of months, because it has all gone by so quickly!

1) We secured an apartment on Chapel Street, thanks to Locations Manager K. Long!

2) We had a read-through in New York. The actors finally had the chance to meet one another. Crew ate most of the donuts. Thanks to O. Horton for trying a cookie.

3) Procured props for the shooting of Joseph's story this weekend! Antique furniture, including a night stand, rocking chair, and leather-top desk.

4) Shot our first scenes this past weekend! Nothing edited as of yet, but check out this preliminary shot from the epilogue to Nirav's story:

5) Production schedule below:

Dearest Cast and Crew of "Everyone Who Has Ever Lived Here,"

Sunday's shoot was a blast! A gigantic thank-you to everyone who participated and really set this production into motion. Before I continue with this long e-mail, some exciting news: you can now see one of our "crane shots" (unedited) on YouTube! Click the following link:

All in all, we got a lot done today:

1) We shot the epilogues for the second and third narratives.
2) We established a great on-set dynamic. (Let's keep up the pace!)
3) Thanks to M. Silverstein, we figured out principal casting for the boardroom scene.
4) We made plans for next week! See below.

I am about to warn you, crew: this weekend is a doozy, and I apologize in advance for calling all of you in at 8 am. But many of you, I promise, will be able to go back to sleep soon after, and we will not be calling anyone in on Sunday! (Woohoo!) Thank you in advance for sticking it out; I promise there will be no other mornings as early as this one. But alas, we really do need all hands on deck...

Next weekend we will be shooting nearly all of Joseph's story, the first narrative that appears in the film. This is the part where I paste the production schedule for the day of Saturday, Febuary 9:

----------------------------

"Everyone Who Has Ever Lived Here"
Daily Schedule: 9 Feb 2008

Scenes: A-1, A-2, A-4, A-5, B-5
Actors: L. Swansen, M. Mozingo, O. Horton
Crew: M. Nedelman, J. Carballo, L. O'Connor, C. Flores, G. Needlman, A. Agyapon, A. Miles, A. Chak, N. Rosenbaum, B. Hicks, N. Ladizinski, D. Tracey, M. Silverstein, A. Glassman, V. Seelam
Crew Alternates: E. Kim, K. Long, F. Maison, M. Yim
Call time (Crew): 8:00 am
Call time (Actors): 10:00 am

Schedule:
  • 8:00 am
    • Set preparation.
    • Notes
      • Meet at Trumbull at 8 am sharp. Please do not be late, as we will need to walk over *together* with the antique props for Joseph's apartment. Today, we did this in under a half-hour, I believe! But we didn't have the other furniture to deal with. Many will be able to go back to sleep after this, we promise.
  • 10:10 am
    • Photo-shoot on Old Campus.
    • Characters: Joseph, Jason
    • Notes:
      • This is the graduation photo that will appear in a later scene. We have a blue gown ready for the character of Jason, and a possible jacket for that of Joseph. The picture will be taken across the street from the apartment, on "Old Campus." The photo will then be sent to the printing labs for use later that day.
  • 10:30 am
    • Scene: A2
    • Characters: Joseph, Jason
    • Notes
      • M. Mozingo & L. Swansen: Suggested train (Metro North; Grand Central to New Haven): 8:07 am
        • Please contact production manager J. Carballo upon your arrival.
      • M. Mozingo: Again, costuming is pretty simple. Something a little brighter, casual, and more student-like. If you have a backpack, that might also come in handy (we can always provide one to you as a prop, but I figure you might want to put your stuff in there, as you're only in one scene today). Your look should be young, fresh, still in college – to contrast with the soft woody colors of Joseph's antique furniture; you are a bright presence in an otherwise lonely apartment. Also, this is your one scene of the day, and you will be free to catch a train back shortly thereafter, hoping that we do not interfere too much with your work.
      • L. Swansen: We are aiming in this scene for earthy colors, to match the wooden antique furniture. Soft browns, grays, and greens are all perfectly acceptable. As you will be typing, you will be wearing your glasses in this scene.
  • 12:00 am
    • Scene: A1
    • Characters: Joseph, Eve
    • Notes
      • O. Horton: Suggested train (Metro North; Grand Central to New Haven): 10:07 am
        • Please contact production manager J. Carballo upon your arrival.
      • O. Horton: If you have a long tweed (or any sort of thick beige, or even grey, material) overcoat, that would be ideal for this scene. As if this is a huge stretch, you will be dressing for February weather, coming in from your weekly grocery run. The idea is to match Joseph, whereas Jason will contrast him (read above for further reference). The tones on set will be very soft, antique. Your character is not necessarily the type who "dresses up" or puts too much value on her appearance, but she has a natural style about her. Your hair will be down for these scenes, as you might normally wear it (that is, stylish but not-overly-neat). Please let me know if you have any questions or difficulty finding appropriate clothing.
      • L. Swansen: A change of clothes, similar to the previous scene filmed. A soft around-the-house coat is ideal for this scene, matching the aforementioned color sceme. Please let me know if you have any questions about any of this.
  • 1:30 pm
    • Lunch break
  • 2:00 pm
    • Scene: A4
    • Characters: Joseph
    • Notes
      • L. Swansen: This is a fairly simple, albeit long, single shot. Any around-the-house clothes should work. Although we have scheduled 45 minutes for this, if we are running on schedule this should not take very long at all, as I will be preparing the shot during the lunch break. If all goes well up to this point, I hope to be done by 2:30, meaning that you might have the option of taking the 2:55 train back to New York. Otherwise, you also have the option of taking the 3:51 train.
  • 2:45 pm
    • Scenes: A5, B5
    • Characters: Eve
    • Notes
      • Short and simple, I expect this will take the fewest takes out of any scene we're shooting. You will need two more changes of clothes: another similar to the previous scene with Joseph, and something a little more brighter (it's spring now, no coat needed), as you're expecting to see your new love interest, Nirav. Your can also put your hair up for this shot.
  • 3:30
    • WRAP-UP!

----------------------------

Please let me know if you have any questions! Also, actors: please save transportation receipts so that we can reimburse you.

This weekend is a biggie, but I have no doubt that we can pull this off. So far, what little we have looks really great, and my spider sense tells me it only gets better from here... :)

Until this weekend!

Michael
